Partha Chatterjee wins Columbia University Press's 2021 Distinguished Book Award
Columbia University Press has awarded its 2021 Distinguished Book Award to Partha Chatterjee for I Am The People. The collection of essays was originally presented as a sequence of lectures in the context of the Department's annual Ruth Benedict Lectures Series, in 2018. They were the second in the annual series.
The prize was recognized at a ceremony in Low Library, October 27, and Lila Abu-Lughod, representing Anthropology and Timothy Mitchell representing MESAAS, received it on Partha Chatterjee's behalf since he was unable to get an appointment for a visa application to return to the U.S. in time.
