October 01, 2025

On September 30, Columbia University Press awarded its 2025 Distinguished Book Prize to Rosalind Morris for Unstable Ground: The Lives, Deaths, and Afterlives of Gold in South Africa (2025). This year's prize was shared between Morris and co-authors, David Rosner and Gerald Markowitz, for their Building the Worlds that Kill Us. The prize honors a book by a Columbia faculty member published by CUP in the past two years that brings the most distinction to the Press and to the University.
