Since the deaths of 78 informal miners in the town of Stilfontein, South Africa, Rosalind Morris has been arguing for a new approach to the question of informal mining in Africa, and the need for regional economic repair. Interviewed by The Daily Maverick and Okay Africa, in Africa, as well as news media in the UK, Japan, Germany, and Denmark, she has appeared on Dennis Davis's television show, Judge for Yourself, on the podcast run by the UK-based Center for African Conflict and Development, and authored an Op Ed for The Conversation that has been read more than 14,000 times. Her poem about death unground, The Coffinless, was also published in the progressive Afrikaans newspaper, Vrye WeekbladSee, as well, her blog with Columbia University Press
