Ghassan Hage, Benedict Lecture #3: 'Anisogamic Futures'

The Department of Anthropology, Columbia University, is pleased to announce Professor Ghassan Hage, Futures Generation Professor at Melbourne University, as the 4th Annual Ruth Benedict Lecturer.  Professor Hage will present a series of talks under the title "Colonial Inheritances and Post/Colonial Viabilities." On April 4th he will speak on "Figures of the Viable Life"; on April 6th, "The Colonial Debt"; and on April 8th, "Anisogamic Futures." All lectures will be held from 4-6pm in Sulzberger Parlor, Barnard College.

The Ruth Benedict Lectures are an annual series of lectures sponsored by the anthropology department at Columbia and published by Columbia University Press. They foreground global intellectual work at the intersection of contemporary political, aesthetic, and theoretical problems. Previous speakers include: Talal Asad, Partha Chatterjee and Joan Scott.
