Room 963, Schermerhorn Hall,

In this talk based on preliminary fieldwork in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cox engages the narratives that intergenerational Black women employ and circulate to mark time, map space, and imagine possible futures that may have already arrived in this river town. This work is part of a larger ethnographic exploration of the creative strategies communities enact to name and reclaim Black life in Jackson, Mississippi; Cincinnati, Ohio; and understudied areas of the Rustbelt and Appalachia.
