Biography

Lana’s research is focused on the management and circulation of federal museum collections. She is interested in how federal legal guidance is enacted in museum practice, and how these laws structure the relationship between federal museums, their collections, and culturally affiliated groups. Lana’s project is reinforced through her experiences managing collections and developing exhibitions for the US Department of Interior and the National Park Service. She comes to Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Studio Art from Kenyon College, and over a decade of work in contemporary art museums, historical societies, and federal museums.
